
Aaron Hernandez, who once dominated the football field as a star tight end for the New England Patriots, has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd, the boyfriend of his fiancée’s sister.
A 12-person jury reached the verdict Wednesday, on the seventh day of deliberations. The trial spanned more than two months and saw 135 witnesses –132 of which were called by the prosecution.
Hernandez was also found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. He faces life in prison without parole.
Hernandez’s fiancee and mother sobbed as the verdict was read.
