It’s been over five years since Mo’Nique has appeared on the big screen and now, she has come roaring back in the Patrik – Ian Polk film, Blackbird.

Blackbird tells the story of Randy Rousseau (played by newcomer Julian Walker), a 17-year old who loves the Lord, (he gives new meaning to the command to pray without ceasing), sings in the church choir and is a friend and caretaker for all, including his emotionally unstable mother, Claire (Mo’Nique).

Randy’s world is filled with turmoil as his father, Lance Rousseau (Isaiah Washington), has left the home, his younger sister has been kidnapped and he is struggling to come to terms with his sexuality as only a 17-year old could who just happens to live in southern Mississippi.
