CLEVELAND- The city of Cleveland plans to appeal an arbitrator’s ruling that just overturned discipline handed out for four supervisors in a chase that turned deadly in 2012, the Fox 8 I-Team has learned.

Four sergeants had received suspensions ranging from 10 to 30 days. But an arbitrator ruled those punishments were too harsh.

The officer of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said the city has 90 days to appeal.

The city is also fighting a court battle over a sergeant who’d been fired after the chase. An arbitrator gave him his job back, and the city has been appealing that through the courts.

Two other police supervisors who’d been demoted also had their punishment overturned.
