Memphis police officer Terence Olridge was gunned down in his driveway Sunday afternoon while trying to break up a domestic violence dispute, the NY Daily News reports.
Olridge, a 31-year-old father-to-be, was trying to break up the fight between neighbors at approximately 12:52 pm when multiple shots rang out.
The injured officer crawled back into the house for safety, his uncle said, where his fiancée called for help.
Olridge was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died of his wounds.
Olridge just graduated from the police academy last September.
At the time, he told a local Fox station, “Got a task ahead of me and I am prepared.”
