If you want to discuss two important topics, faith and race, with your children, Sherri Shepherd has the perfect way to broach these subjects effectively.

The 48-year-old Christian actress and comedian recommends watching and conversing about Woodlawn, the faith-based film based on a true story.

“This is a film that you can sit down and watch with your family and discuss. If you are wondering how you will talk to your children about what’s going on today, look at the movie Woodlawn,” said Shepherd in an interview with EBONY.

She stars in the film as the mother of legendary running back Tony Nathan.

Woodlawn is about the spiritual awakening that captured the heart of Woodlawn High School football team in Birmingham, Alabama during the 1970’s as they fight against racial prejudice and hatred.
