CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

The city of Cleveland has agreed to pay $200,000 in a settlement with the FAA on violations at Hopkins Airport.

The initial fine was $735,000 but city was able to negotiate with FAA to the $200,000 figure.

The FAA fined the airport in September of last year for unsafe runways and under-staffing during several winter snow events.

Cleveland 19 News reporter Scott Taylor was the first to break the story and discovered that Hopkins is under-staffing its runways during the winter months, according to an FAA agreement.
