Messy folks in the church is nothing new. And yet, some Christians might be uncomfortable with Oprah Winfrey’s new primetime soapy megachurch drama, “Greanleaf,” which just premiered on June 21.

“Some church people may be upset” by it, said Erica Campbell during a July 1 interview on the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

It centers on an African-American family that presides over a powerful megachurch in Memphis and touches on hot topics like infidelity, love triangles, substance abuse, resentment, greed and revenge.

So how does the newly minted radio host of Get Up! Mornings feel about the show executived produced by the mother of all media?

While some believers may be put off by the unscrupulous world and ways of these characters who help run the ficitious Calvary World Fellowship Ministries, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful, Campbell said, “I believe everybody that’s coming to church needs Jesus. There is no such thing as perfect people. It is messed up folk who need a perfect God and so you bring your junk to church and you try to deal with it.”
