Their first dance must have been epic.  Misty Copeland married her boyfriend of ten years, Olu Evans, on Sunday, PEOPLE has confirmed.

Copeland, 33, the first African-American female principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, announced her engagement to Evans, an attorney (who also happens to be Taye Diggs’ cousin), in the September 2015 issue ofEssence.

She talked to PEOPLE in April about her plans for a summer wedding, saying she was feeling laid-back about her big day.

“It’s coming along! It’s happening this summer so it’s very soon,” Copeland said. “I’m super busy so I have amazing people taking care of a lot of stuff.”

Rather than focusing on the little details, Copeland said she just wanted to have fun.

“I think I’m a pretty simple girl, so I like for there to be no drama. I just want to enjoy the day, and not have it be about the preparation,” she said.
