Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who seems to be plagued by a permanent case of foot-in-mouth disease, dropped another doozy Tuesday in Wilmington, N.C.

During a campaign speech, Trump suggested that if Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton were to win, she would appoint Supreme Court justices who would abolish the Second Amendment (Clinton has never suggested anything close to that). If she won, Trump went on, it would be too late to do anything about it … unless some Second Amendment supporters—possibly, maybe??—took matters into their own hands?

“If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks,” Trump said. He quickly added: “Although the Second Amendment people—maybe there is, I don’t know.”

On Twitter, many folks, including the youngest child of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., took Trump’s comments as a veiled threat directed at Clinton. Bernice King made it clear exactly how she felt about Trump’s remarks:
