Nelly will perform at the upcoming Face Forward gala, continuing to fight against domestic violence.

(Per It Girl Public Relations) The seventh annual gala, which will be held on September 24, 2016 at Vibiana in Historic Downtown L.A., is set to raise funds as well as build awareness towards Face Forward’s great cause. The charity provides complimentary reconstructive surgery for domestic violence survivors! The goal is to raise at least $500,000 to support new patients in 2017.

Set to perform a “high energy set” at the gala, Nelly has personal ties to the charity’s message against domestic violence. His girlfriend, Shantel Jackson, was a survivor of domestic abuse, and Nelly was exposed to it himself as a child. “I have daughters and I wouldn’t want them to go through this. I hope I have raised both my sons and daughters to know how to treat people of the opposite sex, and know what healthy relationships look like,” he said. “It’s up to my generation and the ones that follow, to take a stand against domestic violence and inspire change.”

In addition to other honorees, Shantel will be honored at the gala as a Survivor/Advocate. NBA head coach Byron Scott will also be honored for his work to help recruit athletes to be more informed and spread the word about domestic violence.
