Members of the National Action Network and Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) gathered yesterday (September 21) at the House of Justice in Manhattan for a press conference on police brutality and its latest victim, 40-year-old Terence Crutcher. Amongst the group of men was Terence’s father, Rev. Joey Crutcher, a 30+ year rep for GMWA.

Hands up and unarmed, Crutcher was gunned down by Tulsa, Oklahoma police officer Betty Shelby earlier this week on the road where he was having car trouble.

Crutcher’s family says he loved people and gospel music. As a regular attendee of the Gospel Music Workshop of America with his dad, he was called the “workshop baby” and was actually enrolled in school to elevate his role in his community’s music ministry.

He leaves behind four children; officer Shelby has been charged with first-degree manslaughter.

Below, Rev. Crutcher recalls the moment he found out police shot and killed his son…
