Happy Birthday to singer/songwriter Ledisi. Ledisi Anibade Young was born on this date in 1972 in Mew Orleans.

Ledisi was brought forth to us by the grace of her God given talents and the encouragement of her mother, Nyra Dynese, to never give up despite what others may not have found appealing to their eye, but rather push to come what is place on our ears to rest upon our hearts. Because of this encouragement the lost was found and we were given the hit “Alright” in 2007, that spoke to her testimony.

Ledisi lyrically also gave us hits such as “Pieces Of Me”, “I Blame You” as well as others. These hits lead for her to be cast as the Gospel great Mahalia Jackson in the movie “Selma” in which she gave a tear jerking rendition of “Take My, Precious Lord”. Although she was snubbed by others for her masterful performance in Selma, Ledisi’s record still reflects her accomplishments by being nominated for 9 Grammy Awards and 2 NAACP Awards.

We thank you Ledisi for your gift to us in music but more importantly, Happy Birthday and many continued blessings.
