Shaquille O’Neal is out of surgery and it was successful, which is the good news. The bad news is that the procedure Dr. Thomas Graham and Cavs team physician Dr. Richard Parker performed Monday morning in Baltimore on O’Neal’s right thumb ended his regular season.
In announcing that O’Neal was out of surgery, the Cavaliers finally put a timetable on O’Neal’s recovery. The team expects him to miss approximately eight weeks. That two-month window would likely knock O’Neal out of the first round of the playoffs as well as the 22 remaining games in the season.
