The Browns just Paid the Man.

Receiver/returner Josh Cribbs signed his new three-year contract today, which replaces the exisiting three years he had on his previous deal through 2012, his agents said.

It’s worth up to $20 million, including about $7.5 million guaranteed — meaning he’d be the highest-paid special-teamer in the game if he hits all of his incentives. The miminum of the value of the deal is guaranteed money.

“It’s a win-win for everyone involved,” agent Peter Schaffer told The Plain Dealer. “It’s a great statement by the new regime. It shows that the Browns are committed to winning — and that they were willing to take care of their best player.”

Cribbs’ new deal, which averages about $6.3 million if he earns the maximum value, exceeds Devin Hester’s $5.4 million average. Hester, the Chicago Bears specialist, signed a four-year, $40 million deal in 2008, including $15 million guaranteed.
