A bill that swept through Congress finally got the scrutiny it deserved in light of admissions that some of the nation’s biggest lenders might have improperly processed tens of thousands of foreclosures.
Today, the White House announced that President Barack Obama will not sign a bill that would require courts to recognize certain documents that had been notarized out of state, which housing advocates say could have made it harder for homeowners to contest these questionable foreclosures.
