Wednesday morning, it became clear that the predicted wave of GOP victories in the mid-term elections was a fact, as West laid claim to the District 22 seat.

“I’m not going to Washington, D.C. to be a ruling class elitist or to be a career politician,” West told the wildly cheering crowd. “I’m going there to fix the problems, and then I’m coming home.”

As of 8:20 a.m., with 97 percent of precincts reporting, West was ahead with 54.3 percent of the votes. Klein trailed with 45.7 percent.

On Tuesday night, Klein thanked his supporters but not conceded the race. Palm Beach County’s votes — the last major county whose numbers could make a difference for him — were still being totaled.
