So often in any postseason competition, it is all hands on deck just to make it to the next day, and the Cleveland Indians personified that against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series at Rogers Centre Monday night.
With starting pitcher Trevor Bauer able to go just two-thirds of an inning because of a laceration on his right pinkie finger, the Indians used six pitchers out of the bullpen, and they combined to strike out eight batters in a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.
With the win over the Blue Jays, the Indians hold a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series and are just one victory away from clinching their first World Series berth since 1997.
Although the pitching staff limited the Blue Jays to just two earned runs over 8.1 innings of work, they got some help from the offense, particularly first baseman Mike Napoli, who went two for three with two runs scored and a pair of RBI
