The Ohio House of Representatives voted 80-16 on a plan to increase calamity days, a plan that would give Ohio school districts up to four additional snow days.
The House proposal calls for four additional calamity days, as well as providing districts with additional options for making up the time.
This year’s severe winter weather forced most Ohio school districts to exceed their five allotted calamity days.
They began discussing it at 1:30 p.m.
The bill must now pass the Ohio Senate. If the Senate passes it, it will go to Gov. John Kasich’s desk as “emergency” legislation, meaning it would take effect immediately.
Kasich was the first to call for extra school snow days.
