A water main break on Carnegie Avenue at East 55th Street in Cleveland is creating quite the mess for drivers and pedestrians.

Cleveland police tell NewsChannel5 that the break was first reported Sunday. Newchannel5′s Jackie Zabielski has been reporting on the break since Monday morning on Good Morning Cleveland.

Water is flowing freely from under a steel road plate, and as drivers splash through the water it is freezing to everything it touches.

The side of the road has a two to three foot ice dam making a guardrail of ice along Carnegie Avenue. Trees, utility poles and even a fire hydrant are encased in nearly a foot of ice.

A City of Cleveland plow truck was working around 2 a.m. Friday to scrape away nearly a foot of slush from the intersection of East 55th and Carnegie.

The sidewalks in the area are iced over and the deep slush is making walking almost impossible.
