Crews have been working tirelessly to locate and rescue people. So far, eight people have been found and rescued from the landslide.
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA (RNN/CNN) – During a press conference on Monday, authorities say 108 are either missing or unaccounted for.
John Pennington, director of Snohomish County emergency management, says the 108 names on the list aren’t confirmed fatalities.
“It’s a soft 108,” Pennington said. “We have not found anyone alive on this pile since Saturday.”
Authorities are working from the list, which was made from various sources who reported missing people.
“We are expected for that number to decline dramatically,” Pennington said.
Eight people were killed and at least six were injured Saturday in a massive landslide north of Seattle.
The slide destroyed at least seven homes and scattered trees and debris across State Road 530.
