Reynolds High School

It is not yet known what connection the shooter has with the school and why he opened fire leading up to a student’s death and other injuries.

TROUTDALE, OR (KPTV) –

A gunman carrying a rifle opened fire and killed a student at Reynolds High School on Tuesday, and Troutdale police confirmed the gunman himself is also dead.

Multiple students told FOX 12 they heard at least two gunshots near the main gym around 8 a.m.

Police haven’t identified the victim who was killed. Officials said a teacher, who students and neighbors identified as P.E. teacher Todd Rispler, was grazed by a bullet.

Several law enforcement agencies responded to reports of an active shooter at the school, and when they arrived, they evacuated the school of all students and staff.

The situation has since been “stabilized” and police confirmed the shooter had died; however, the lockdown persists and it will take hours to search and clear the school.

Police said two school resource officers and a tactical team “brought this to a conclusion.”
