A Maryland woman’s death after a botched butt surgery in a New York basement has been labeled a homicide, The New York Daily News reports.

Kelly Mayhew, 34, died in June after traveling to Queens to enhance her buttocks. Mayhew, a freelancer for BET, had a total of five procedures before her fatal encounter with the mystery doctor. Medical Examiner spokeswoman Julie Bolcer confirmed the silicone injected into her rear was the result of her death on Wednesday.

“The cause of death is systemic silicone emboli due to cosmetic silicone injections of buttocks,” Medical Examiner spokeswoman Julie Bolcer told the News. “The manner of death is homicide.”

Mayhew traveled with her mother to the home of the unidentified suspect, who performed the operation in her basement. Shortly after the injection, Mayhew had trouble breathing. Her mother asked the doctor to call 911 while she performed CPR. Instead, she hopped in a gray SUV and fled. Mayhew was taken to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The suspect is currently on the run. NYPD told reporters the “physician” might be hiding out in London after her lawyer withdrew from a surrender arrangement.
