After survival, tragedy: Teenager Ye Meng Yuan didn’t die from a plane crash at San Francisco International Airport last July. She actually survived the impact – only to die shortly later when a fire truck ran over her. Now, newly released helmet cam video obtained by CBS suggests emergency workers saw Ye’s injured body on the ground before she was fatally struck – challenging earlier claims that she was accidentally run over because she may have been covered in firefighting foam. In the footage, one firefighter tried to stop an emergency vehicle racing toward the scene. “Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop, stop, stop! There’s a body … there’s a body right there. Right in front of you,” the firefighter told the driver.

No stand your ground: The lawyer defending a retired police officer accused of shooting another man dead in a Florida movie theater tried to secure bail for him in court yesterday. He made a well-known argument, the one that got George Zimmerman off the hook: Curtis Reeves feared for his life, when he drew his gun. But stand your ground “does not fly here in this case,” police and prosecutors said. The gunned-down man was armed only with popcorn. The judge agreed. No bail for Reeves. He allegedly shot Chad Oulson after a long argument that started when Oulson sent text messages from the theater to his daughter’s baby sitter
3. SCHOOL SHOOTING
Students in tears: Not again. Students streamed out of a middle school in Roswell, New Mexico, sobbing and terrified yesterday. A boy had pulled a shotgun out of a bag inside the gym, where students had gathered, and allegedly opened fire, the state’s governor said. Two classmates were wounded. One of them, a 13-year-old girl, was operated on and is in stable condition. An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition with wounds to the head and neck. The alleged shooter was only 12 years old. A teacher walked up to him and talked him into putting the gun down.
