A local group wants to stop violence like rape and human trafficking, and it’s giving women the tools to fight back.

Leaders held a forum in Glenville Wednesday night moderated by Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Pinkey S. Carr.

Other speakers included City Council members, two Cuyahoga County judges and law enforcement officials from all over.

The group hosting the event hopes it will be a catalyst for more women to take a proactive approach to their safety.

“This is not about discussing what the problems are, we already know the problems, but what can we do collectively to come up with some solutions,” explained Yvonne Pointer, who became a community activist in the wake of her teenage daughter’s murder.
