Rep. John Lewis was arrested today (October 8) in Washington, D.C. during a march to the Capitol for immigration reform.

Lewis was arrested during the Camino Americano: Rally and March for Immigrant Dignity and Respect, which was held on the National Mall. The civil rights icon was arrested with other members of Congress, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, around 4:15 pm in front of the U.S. Capitol.

The rally featured speakers like civil rights leader Julian Bond and singer Lila Downs. This was Lewis’ 45th arrest. In addition to his arrests during the Civil Rights Movement, his past arrests include being arrested at the South African Embassy for protesting apartheid.
