A drop-off day for old and unwanted prescription drugs will be held at locations throughout Northeast Ohio Saturday.

Operation Medicine Cabinet and the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To find the nearest location, visit www.DrugAwarenessAndPrevention.org and click on “Got Drugs?” or call (800) 882-9539.

In addition to the event’s collection sites, many communities offer permanent drop boxes at their local police stations every day. To access this list, visitwww.RxDrugDropBox.org, and click on “find a box.

The goal is to help Northeast Ohio residents safely dispose of any outdated or unwanted prescription medications. Last October, the event collected more than 9,000 pounds of unwanted or expired medications.

This completely confidential program will allow adult family members to visit any listed location, where law enforcement officers will collect and hold all medications.

After the medications are collected, they will be weighed by the Drug Enforcement Administration before they are destroyed.
