browns win

The Cleveland Browns had beaten the Pittsburgh Steelers only once in 19 previous chances against quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but they started fast, and scored often in a 31-10 victory over their AFC North Division rival in front of a capacity crowd of 67,407 fans at FirstEnergy Stadium Sunday.

The Browns (3-2, 1-2 AFC North) had four of their five scoring drives end in touchdowns, three of which were rushing scores, in the lopsided win over the Steelers (3-3, 1-2).

“It’s huge,” first-year Browns coach Mike Pettine said. “I can’t tell that lie. It’s a division win, but for it to be Pittsburgh and the way we did it, it’s special. I thought the crowd was great all day.

“I told our guys — it was part of the speech last night and today pregame — as I’ve mentioned in press conferences, we have our hand firmly on the volume control. I thought our guys did a good job of making plays and getting the fans into it. It was a special day for us and for all of Cleveland.”
