Her son was named MVP earlier this year; Stephen Curry’s mom, Sonya Curry, is becoming a real celebrity on social media. A devout Christian, who played basketball and volleyball in high school, Sonya Curry married former NBA star Dell Curry in 1988. They are the proud parents of two sons – Stephen Curry and Seth Curry – and one daughter, Sydel Curry.
Sonya, who owns a school in Charlotte, is very supportive of her children. Stephen’s success in this year’s NBA playoffs and her youthful looks have turned this loving mom into a real media sensation. However, she prefers to remain focus on the essential, keeping her son motivated and hungry for victory. The young NBA sensation recently explained how his mom got him to mix spirituality and basketball. He shared:
“My mom texted me before my first practice at Davidson – Romans 8:28, her favorite verse – and it was kind of motivation and encouragement,” Steph said. “And as I started a new journey, she encouraged me to find a new verse I could take hold of. Now it’s Philippians 4:13, so I write both of those on the inside of my shoes. Playing out here on the west coast is still the same. That’s the most consistent part of our life and what drives me.
