Obama Suffers The Slings And Arrows Of A Restive World:

President Barack Obama bade farewell to G20 leaders in Hangzhou, China, on Monday by reminding them they’re living in “turbulent” times — and he wasn’t kidding.

His valedictory Asia tour, which moved on to Laos later in the day, is unfolding amid diplomatic slights and great power rivalries that reflect the unstable nature of the world Obama will bequeath to his successor in January.
The controversies reflect the way international politics is now a stew of many competing, rising or resurgent powers that see fewer reasons to simply fall into line behind the United States than was the case following World War II and the Cold War. And it may suggest that foreign leaders are now just as interested in who will sit in the Oval Office next as they are in Obama as he heads for the exit.

Bill Cosby’s Lawyers Want Judge To Throw Out Deposition, Phone Call:

Bill Cosby’s lawyers may ask a judge on Tuesday to throw out two key pieces of evidence in the sexual misconduct case against the comedian: a deposition Cosby gave in a 2005 lawsuit by accuser Andrea Constand and a recording of a phone call between Cosby and Constand’s mother.

Judge Steven O’Neill’s ruling on those defense motions could shape the case against Cosby, one of the nation’s most-loved entertainers until dozens of women accused him of sexually assaulting them over several decades.
This is the first time he’s faced criminal prosecution. Cosby is charged with three counts of felony aggravated indecent assault from a 2004 case involving Andrea Constand, an employee at his alma mater, Temple University.

Fall In Love With A Job You Don’t Even Like, In Three Steps:

More than half of Americans find their job unsatisfactory, according to an annual survey released last month by the Conference Board research group. The nation has been hovering around the halfway mark of job dissatisfaction since at least 2000.

Think of the people you work with every day. Half of them do not like being there. Maybe you’re one of them, living a life that Henry David Thoreau would have described as one of “quiet desperation.”

US Open 2016: Joy For Juan Martin del Potro, Agony For Venus Williams:

Juan Martin del Potro and Venus Williams experienced differing emotions at Flushing Meadows on Monday while another former US Open champion, Serena Williams, broke a grand slam record.

Del Potro beat an ailing Dominic Thiem to reach a first grand slam quarterfinal in three years. His recent upturn has the 27-year-old and his fans hoping all the injuries are a thing of the past.
Venus Williams, meanwhile, suffered one of the toughest losses of her 20-year career — not capitalizing on a match point in a 4-6 6-4 7-6 (7-3) reverse to Karolina Pliskova — and given her age, 36, one couldn’t help but wonder if it was her final US Open.
The way she patrolled the court, however, and her grit, indicated that the seven-time grand slam winner still had plenty to offer.
