CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) – For the second week in a row the Browns gave up big plays in the final moments of the game, but this time the final play went their way. John Kasay banged a 42 yard field goal attempt off the left upright as time expired to preserve a 24-23 Browns win.

Carolina started the drive on their own four yard line with 59 seconds left and no time outs. Two big pass plays got them in Kasay’s range. Mike Goodson took a screen pass 32 yards to the Carolina 48 yard line. Two plays later Brandon LaFell made a diving 28 yard catch and got out of bounds at the Cleveland 24. Kasay’s miss was the next play.

The Panthers battled back from a 21-7 defecit. Peyton Hillis ran for three touchdowns in the first half.

The Cleveland Browns advance to 4-7 with the Panthers fall 1-10.

Jake Delhomme started at quarterback with Colt McCoy nursing an ankle injury. Delhomme was 24 of 35 for 245 yards and two interceptions.

The Browns will take on the Miami Dolphins in Florida next Sunday.
