South Euclid-Lyndhurst Teacher Arrested On Sex Charge Against Minor

A South Euclid-Lyndhurst teacher has been arrested on a felony sex charge involving a minor.
Eric A. Schmidt was arraigned Tuesday morning and is being held on a $20,000 bond. The school district has placed him on leave, and his initial court date is scheduled for Feb. 5.
Reports say the minor involved isn’t a member of the South Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools.
Schmidt was arrested without incident and is charged with a felony count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material. If convicted he faces up to eight years in prison.

“Due to the nature of the investigation, additional details are currently limited,” reads the sheriff’s Facebook post. “Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.”
Not many more details have been released at this time. This is a developing story.
